HALF/TIME began as a pandemic project for Wairehu in 2020. Conceptually emerging from his PHD
research on the ideological crossovers of te ao Māori and punk culture, the project encompasses the personal and political, amplifying the ancestral echoes of Aotearoa and giving voice to the injustices faced by indigenous peoples today.
Since taking shape as a three-piece in 2023, HALF/TIME have toured Aotearoa New Zealand, The UK, and have opened for bands such as Idles, Big Brave and Dream Wife.
