The XRAY5

The XRAY5 is a Southern California–based post-punk and darkwave project blending moody atmospheres, driving basslines, and synth-forward textures with a modern underground edge. Led by Ray Arroyo, the project draws from classic post-punk and early alternative influences while embracing contemporary electronic production and emotionally charged songwriting.

Formed within the LA dark alternative scene, The XRAY5 has steadily built momentum through a series of releases and live performances that balance introspection with urgency. Known for songs that explore themes of isolation, connection, and resilience, the project pairs stark visuals with a strong DIY ethos — prioritizing authenticity over trend.

As both an artist and the founder of Darkwave Records, Arroyo operates The XRAY5 at the intersection of music, community, and independent culture. Recent and upcoming releases signal a continued evolution toward darker electronic elements while maintaining the project’s post-punk core, positioning The XRAY5 as a compelling voice in the modern darkwave landscape.
