James Douglas Cooper

James Douglas Cooper is an Australian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who recently released his highly melodic and richly textured third album, ‘In Pursuit of the Firebird’. The album was mixed by Emmy® Award-winning Sean Carey (Cat Stevens/ Yusuf Islam, Julia Stone) and mastered by Reuben Cohen at Grammy Award-winning Lurssen Mastering (George Harrison, Eric Clapton). After touring his debut album, ‘Second Season’, working as a musical director and session musician in the UK, Europe and Australia, Cooper co-wrote a new version of his original ‘Second Season’ cut ‘Beautiful As You’ with Australian indie darlings The Whitlams, whose version of ‘Beautiful As You’ hit the Australian ARIA top 40 chart. Later, a second faster single version would hit the ARIA Australian Artists Top 10 Singles Chart. Seeking new horizons and fertile creative collaborations, Cooper produced a sophomore offering, ‘Foreign Cities’ – in Europe – releasing the project on 180 gram vinyl, compact-disc, download and as a series of experimental short music films in collaboration with a group of Irish filmmakers. Cooper’s songwriting has clocked over 400,000 streams on Spotify and he continues to write and record in Los Angeles, working on a follow up to ‘In Pursuit of the Firebird’ for release in 2025.
