Despite their 1995 breakup, the five members of Samuel have remained close friends, and during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, started a conversation about reuniting to record a set of songs they’d written before disbanding. All of them except Deutsch -- who offered his sincere blessing -- were in. So, in the summer of 2021, they and Darkest Hour/Be Well guitarist Mike Schleibaum convened at Ivakota Studios to record the best of their “lost” set of songs. Those reimagined songs were augmented by newly written material, and the band realized they had enough music for a full-length LP. Thus, with the help of Schleibaum and talented engineer Benjamin Green, High Places -- the debut LP by Samuel SC – was born.
