Über Alex Kennon (Official)
Ever since his early years, Alex Kennon has always been interested in music. As a result, he started studying classical guitar at the age of 6 and then thanks to his father, was introduced to the music world through funk, punk rock and electronic rock. Aged 15, Alex started working in local radio, where he began to lay the vase of his own taste in the music field. In the beginning he became closer to house music and deep-tech sounds, and afterwards became influenced by acid and dub styles, and from artists such as Soul Capsule, Point G, Omar S and Mr. G.
Alex soon joined several clubs as a DJ in Italy before visiting Ibiza, Switzerland, Spain, Germany, Egg in London, Katerblau in Berlin, Barcelona, Lisbon, and various other European countries. He has also performed in Singapore at the infamous Zouk, whilst appearing at some of Thailand, Russia and Romania’s best clubs including Kristal Glam, Studio Martin and Database.
His style is difficult to define: whilst he is still inspired by different genres and trends; he doesn’t adapt it to fit a particular outline. Alex’s music follows above all what his feelings suggest, and because of that reason is always progressing.
In 2012 his name began to resonate on the island of Ibiza and he made his debut appearance at one of the Islands most prestigious clubs, Ushuaia. During 2014, Alex joined the opening party of Privilege in front of nine thousand people and formed part of the famous “Insane” party at Pacha, heading by John Digweed.
The following year, Alex joined Kevin Saunderson, Todd Terry and Kenny Dope at Miami Music Week for the annual Pacha party, and also took to Mamaia (Romania) to headline Kudos Beach Festival. Furthermore, 2015 was the year that Alex established himself as a key Ibiza resident, with more than 15 gigs across the whole of the season Insane at Pacha and appearances in most of Europe’s capitals including Berlin, London, Lisbon, Bucharest, Barcelona and Rome.
2016 was arguably Alex’s best year to date, with renowned producer Pirupa including his track ‘Blue Water’ in his BBC Radio 1 Essential mix to start the year, whilst a collaboration on Nick Fanciulli’s Saved Records imprint also followed. In summer, Alex joined Ellum boss Maceo Plex for the debut of his Mosaic party at Pacha Ibiza, becoming a resident across seven dates, before appearances at Spellground Fest, Pacha festival Amsterdam, JEMF and at numerous other events including Nic Fanciulli’s ‘We Are The Night’ Sonar OFF week party. The year was rounded out with his The Last Call EP on NONSTOP reaching #3 on Beatport and gaining international support, most notably from Pete Tong who listed the Karmon remix as his 21st Best Tune of the year, alongside support from the likes of Solomun, Nic Fanciulli and Andhim and more.
2017 looks set to continue in a similar vein, with an appearance at Zouk Singapore alongside Kölsch and a back-to-back with Visionquest boss and renowned selector Ryan Crosson at BPM Festival kicking off the New Year, whilst a series of dates across Asia, Europe and the America’s are also on the horizon.
