Über The Burn Ins
The Burn Ins are an award-winning female-fronted Canadian Indie Blues Rock Band from Elkford BC. Their music will take you on a delightfully dark journey into a foot-stomping good time. Aaron Lyall just wants to bang on his drums all day, Aaron Mokry has guitar licks so tasty they make your mom’s cooking look bad, and bassist Kristine Lyall fronts this power trio with her own brand of soulful vocal stylings.
Their new six-song album Start A Fire will be released in summer 2017. “We chose the title for the new album from a lyric in our single ‘Ain’t Nobody Watching Me’.”, says Kristine. “Start A Fire is meant to do just that, start a fire under people to either get up and dance, or to get up and do something to create change in the world around them.” This is the second project they’ve put together with producer Jonathan Anderson (Said the Whale Hawaiii, Andy Shauf The Bearer of Bad News) at Protection Island Recording in Maple Ridge, BC.
The previous album On The Inside (2015) has assisted the band in reaching these accomplishments:
Winner of 2016 Fraser Valley Music Awards - What’s On! Magazine’s “Artist of the Year”
Nominated for 2016 Fraser Valley Music Awards - Blues Artist of the Year
Winner of 2016 Sun Peaks Music Search
Top 20 in Vancouver’s 2016 Roxy Launch Project
2016 Regional Finalist in CBC Searchlight
Winner of 2015 Kootenay Music Awards “Best New Artist”
2015 Regional Champions in CBC Searchlight (top 23 in Canada)
“For the last five years we’ve either been staying with friends and family, touring in the van, or living out of a motorhome. Having no roots makes it easy to travel.”, explains Aaron Lyall. The band has toured through Washington, Oregon, Idaho, California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Montana, New Mexico, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Northwest Territories, Yukon, Alaska, and British Columbia. A few favourite stops have been Nashville and Toronto, and their three-week tour in Japan through Ishinomaki, Iwaki, Yokohama, and Tokyo was an experience they will never forget.
Getting hit by a car while riding a motorcycle harshly reminded Kristine and Aaron Lyall that LIFE IS SHORT. In 2011, after their recovery, they decided to sell most of their possessions, rent out their house, leave their tiny hometown behind and take the band on the road full-time. Kristine recalled,“We had almost zero experience and no clue what would happen next. It has been a strange and fascinating journey that has brought us this far, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.”
