Über Will Whisson Music

Will Whisson Music
Will Whisson is a singer / songwriter from the UK. Born in Kent but raised in abroad, he eventually returned to the England, moving to London for a number of years before deciding to live out of a camper van in order to fully pursue his ambitions of becoming a full-time solo musician and songwriter.
This approach to life has helped him build a profile across 8 different countries in the last year alone winning him many friends since he began his nomadic journey in the summer of 2016.
His original songs incorporate the rootsy sounds of artists like John Butler and Jack Johnson while his laid-back soft vocal and expressive guitar playing is reminiscent of more contemporary artists like John Mayer and Ben Howard. With a Dylan-esque emphasis in his lyrics, Will’s interesting mixture of influences have helped him carve out songs that are melodic, meaningful and engaging.
Born out of the breakup of his former band ‘Electric River’, Will is no stranger to the trials and tribulations of the harsh realities of pursuing a serious career in music through a strong work ethic and a DIY attitude.
The band’s one commercial release (‘The Faith & Patience’) was met with critical acclaim from major music magazines and radio, going on to sell thousands of copies. Following numerous nationwide tours and countless festivals across the UK the band eventually went their separate ways at the end of 2015 leaving Will to assess his future as a musician; ultimately leading him to where he is now.
After an initial 2016 summer stint of busking and gigging around mainland Europe, Will introduced himself as an artist in his own right with a debut EP entitled ‘Age of Wonder.’
Naturally centred around themes of embracing change and overcoming periods of uncertainty, the ‘Age of Wonder - EP’ was released on the 12th Sept 2016 and was produced by Brett Shaw (Daughter, Florence and the Machine, Jess Glynne) offering Will the perfect launch pad to begin attracting listeners to his music.
10 months of touring followed and saw him play gigs in 10 countries around mainland Europe before he finally returned to the UK in the summer of 2017 to fulfil various festival dates and to begin concentrating on another follow up EP.
Entitled ‘Nowhere Bound’ and produced by Pete Miles (Dry the River, We Are the Ocean), Will’s latest release showcases a balance between ambitious production and honest songwriting glued together by an authentic live feel.
The music video for the title track of the EP was filmed shortly after leaving the studio session and involved Will riding a bike the length of the country, (Kent to Northumbria) raising over £2000 for Cancer Research in the process.
With Record of the Day predicting - ‘he’ll be winning lots of new friends in 2017 with this simply gorgeous blend of organic folk-tinged pop,’ Will continues to appear across Europe over the next year with a sound that is one of optimism, positivity and freedom.
