Über Sol Xprsn

Maurice "Sol Xprsn" Clark has a passion for one thing: the development of a revolutionary attitude in the minds of black and brown children universal. Ever since he was in the 5th grade, he loved performing for audiences of all sizes. Sol started off dancing and singing for school talent shows, instantly becoming a favorite among his peers with his enticing energy. He learned his love for hip hop in high school after a break up led to his first rap song "Did You Wrong" dedicated to his ex-girlfriend. After that, his love for listening to rap and rapping grew into a daily routine. Sol released his first songs on Soundcloud.com recorded in basement studios during his last two years in high school. Although he didn't get much buzz, he told all of his friends and family often how he was destined to "make it" in the music industry.

Sol attended the prestigious Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA where he joined the student-run poetry organization "Ill Lyterati" and became a spoken word artist. Still believing that this organization is the root cause for his level of writing skill, Sol often reflects on the lessons he gained from his days as a member of Ill Lyterati. Studying under poets such as Ron "Acolyte Zro", Ayinde Cartmen, Keisha "The Editor" Mitchell, and Vinson "Allah's Apprentice" Muhammad, he would perform poetry, song, and rap every single week on and off campus. Honing his rapping skills more than anything else and expanding his knowledge of the underground hip hop scene, Sol quickly went from a punchline creator to a conscious, politically charged entity that left his audiences in deep thought whenever he'd "drop the mic."

Since then, Sol Xprsn has been a featured poet and speaker for different events around his home city of Wilmington, DE and performing hip hop from Philly to Atlanta to Austin, Texas, creating new ways for viewers and listeners to receive knowledge and understanding while bobbing their head to a great rhythm. Catch him in a city or town near you!
