James Moritz is a singer-songwriter and musician from Austin, TX that writes cosmic country music. Growing up in Austin Moritz was exposed to live music from a young age. He began writing and performing in high school. Later he would attend Tisch School of the Arts at NYU where he would become a regularly performing member in bands like Psychomodo, Padre Pio, and Slick in the Brooklyn DIY scene 2005-09. After graduating Moritz spent a year in Nashville and some time couch-surfing in east L.A. before returning to his roots in Austin to start the band Don't Kill The Hang.

Moritz has spent the last dozen or so years performing regularly under his own name while also being a gun for hire as a bassist/vocalist. Moritz is also the bass player/backing vocalist for swampy tonkers Mayeux & Broussard.

Moritz now lives in North Austin with his partner, Hannah, and son, Arlo.
