Über The Banned

There are multiple artists that go by The Banned:

The Banned (U.K.) were a British punk band who had a UK hit in 1977 with “Little Girl”, a version of a 1966 US hit song by the The Syndicate of Sound. The Banned’s original home pressing on Cant Eat Records (Eat Up 1) was taken up by EMI’s Harvest label. The Banned originated from Tooting and Camberwell in London.

The Banned (U.S.) were a punk band with a considerable following in the New York City and Westchester County, NY music scenes during the late 90's and early 00's. The group normally consisted of three brothers and one non-relation, although many band members had come and gone along the way.

The Banned released an eight-song CD, "Songs of Innocence and Experience," in May 2001. In January of 2003 they recorded "Imitating Art," a full-length album that was released in May 2003. They recorded three songs; "Bring it to a Boil," "Safe Inside These Arms," and "The Loudest Sound," for the opening of the BC Records Compilation. Their last show was played on December 26, 2003 at CBGB's in New York City, before the venue closed for business.

Members of the Banned went on to form New York City based bands such as The Drinkers Themselves and The New Dress.

There are also various punk, indie, metal, and electro bands under the name.
