Über Impossible Cities

Impossible Cities is the conclusion and the beginning to years of restless basement music-making. Born of New Jersey native Daniel Tornatore, Impossible Cities is an idea that has become entirely possible with the likes of Alex Ziatyk’s bass grooves and Thomas Devinko’s jazz rhythms. All three members hail from diverse backgrounds, giving this band its already signature sound. Singer-Songwriter Daniel Tornatore, saw some early success with his high school band, Silent Reconciliation, in the post-hardcore days of the mid 2000s. Hungry for more, Dan went on to self-produce solo work always in hopes of finding new musicians to grow with and advancing his bluesy-yet-progressive sound. After meeting Ziatyk in 2013, a new musical idea began to ruminate. Green-minded and meditative “Z” introduced not only his bass-grooves and penchant for funk, but brought genre-bending ideas to the table thus furthering the sound Tornatore had dreamt of. The two became a trio with the well-timed entrance of drummer Thomas Devinko. Tom, having studied under renowned jazz drummer Ian Froman at The NYC Drummers Collective, brought his professional approach to musicianship aiding in ultimately tying everything together to form a new musical concept that is airy, jam-driven, and melodic. In July 2014, the three-piece released their debut 4-song EP “Sunset Years” and are currently hard at work planning a tour and a full-length album set to release in 2015. Dan Tornatore- Guitar & VOX // Alex Ziatyk- Bass // Tom Devinko- Drums
