Über Jed Zimmerman Music
Jed has been a nationally touring act for the better part of this decade and last. It is in the Texas and Southwest area however, that he finds himself most at home.
Originally from Memphis, TN, it was here he began playing music and found his mentor, Keith Sykes. For a number of years, Zimmerman and Kelley Mickwee played music and toured together. Sykes was instrumental in recording their music, and the two released three records while they were the duo, Jed and Kelley. Eventually he landed in Texas where he got to personally hear and see the likes of Guy Clark, Joe Ely, Rodney Crowell, and John Prine - all of which are major influences on his songwriting to this day. Jed then spent a good period of time living in Taos and Red River, New Mexico, where his songwriting was heavily influenced from the people and landscape of the southwest.
“Write Now” (2010) was the first EP Zimmerman made after he and Mickwee parted ways. The tracks are all acoustic songs, including “The Weatherman,” “Black Eyed Susan” and “Este Es Road.” His 2013 CD, “Shedlight,” produced by Walt Wilkins in Texas with a host of the area’s finest musicians including Dick Gamble, longtime friend and Memphis influence Jimmy Davis, Corby Shaulb, Tina Mitchell Wilkins, and Ray Rodriguez. These songs have now been recorded and covered by several artists including Keith Sykes, Max Gomez, Michael Hearne, Town Mountain and more.
It was in 2014 that Jed took a break from touring to settle down in beautiful Arkansas, raise his kids, and simply write. In early 2018, Jed decided it was time to get back into it and moved to Fort Worth. He’s now performing, writing, recording, and touring all over Texas and the Southwest once again to do what he does best.
