Über RamonPang

RamonPang
RamonPang
RamonPang, is a Filipino-American producer and DJ based in Los Angeles, whose work feels a part of an IDM, electro and ambient continuum—but refuses easy categorization, because of its studied premise.

His sound is sparkling tension: glitchy breakbeats meet harps and lush textures—DX7 synths, rompler sounds, meditation samples—revitalized as complex and cool through juxtaposition. Glacial atmospheres collide with chopped vocal fragments. Delicate melodies layer over restless, complex rhythms that morph into unpredictable arrangements. It's introspective yet dancefloor-ready, sentimental yet demanding—music that asks listeners to hold beauty and dissonance simultaneously.

His electric DJ sets reflect this same tension: tracing quick lines through IDM, electro, acid and bassy music. Resident Advisor describes his mixing as "bird chirps, flutes, cascading chords and harps flare like cosmic fireworks over heavy low-end and lightning-fast breaks, as if the space-time continuum is being rearranged in real time." This sensibility has earned him credibility across electronic music's spectrum, from underground experimental communities to mainstream dance spaces.

In 2021, RamonPang won Baauer's beat battles (judged by A-Trak and Mura Masa), proving his production across trap and bass communities. In 2025, his track "The Answer" closed out Dekmantel's main stage by way of Four Tet—a lifelong influence. Weeks later in February 2026, he would complete a Japan tour as direct support for Ninajirachi, a long-time friend and peer. His third album Life Cycle Waves earned critical praise from Resident Advisor and Igloo Mag for its introspective exploration of personal loss and growth.

Beyond his own work, RamonPang's short-form video presence has become unavoidable. His content exploring electronic music history—from Autechre's live setup to the genealogy connecting IDM, electro and trap—has amassed over 10 million views. Featured in Forbes, Rolling Stone Philippines, and Resident Advisor, he's earned a reputation as a trusted guide to experimental music, making complex artistic discourse accessible without diluting its depth. Anthony Fantano calls him "a fantastic DJ, producer, social media music commentator, suggestor, curator, tastemaker—really awesome figure in the electronic music space these days."

As the co-founder of Tabula Rasa Records alongside Jozef White, RamonPang operates a creative hub for releases, editorial work, and live showcases. The label has become instrumental in documenting emerging scenes while championing artists like Kelbin, data.cluster, Crosstalk, and canary yellow.

RamonPang's work is fundamentally about emotional documentation. Every track embeds hidden elements—voice memos from personal moments, field recordings, memories so quiet only he can hear them. His philosophy is simple: experimental music doesn't have to alienate. It can be cerebral, demanding, and deeply moving all at once. Electronic music history is a living continuum, passed down through generations and he's here to prove it belongs to everyone.
