Caught Pete Josef live for the second time, and this gig was something truly special. Held in a tiny wine cellar at the Saddle Goose Winery for an audience of just 22 people, it was about as intimate as live music gets. Sitting right above the wine barrels with really low ceilings, I initially worried the acoustics might be a bit muddy or cluttered—but the sound was absolutely flawless. Pete played a phenomenal two-part set (two 40-minute halves) switching between acoustic guitar and a tiny keyboard. His voice is simply incredible live; he commands the room effortlessly. The absolute highlight was his cover of Marvin Gaye’s Let’s Get It On. Very few artists can genuinely pull off a Marvin Gaye track without it feeling like a cheap imitation, but Pete absolutely nailed it.

A very special evening at a very special venue. It was perfect. The playing of the whole of the Colour album straight through with no talking was emotional.

Amazing arrangement in atmospheric venue, pulsating with soulful energy to a high note of groove. Pete and the artists made this a very special experience, one to remember.
