Robert Glasper

Robert Glaper is the perfect artist to showcase the best acts to give homage to 50 years of hip-hop. Everybody wants a gig with "Rob" as his rap buddies called him. Rob performs in every genre and does it better than anyone. A Glasper show is like a family jam session. The 50 show had surprise guests Rhapsody, Lupe Fiasco and Common (who ran in after a party at VP Harris' house and didn't miss a beat). The DJ set the stage, rocked the house and there was Cole comedy too. My seats were great and the sound system was on point. Great show all around. That's why I came up from Atlanta to see it.

Was really disappointed he did not get on the stage until an hour and 17 minutes later we had to listen to the DJ all the time and it was really getting late wasn’t able to stay and watch the end of the show! DISAPPOINTED!

Wowww!! Excellent!!! I had excellent seat!! But, the service at my table not good no one checked to see if I needed anything?? But, everyone upstairs that was working in the restaurant from the host, bartender, and servers were great but the show was 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 please keep booking artists like this I ❤️ your venue but a few things need to improve.. 🙏🏽TM

Robert Glasper, Kamasi Washington and Terrace Martin are always FABULOUS🔥🔥🔥 HOWEVER, when does 8:00 pm mean 9:30 pm? I truly despise The Novo. NEVER has a show started on time. I will think twice and three times before I return to that venue.

The music was good. Lalah Hathaway is a talent and a remarkable singer. The set was short (about 1 hour) and enjoyable but it felt more like a Lalah Hathaway show. My biggest issue with the event is the venue because Blue Note just pack in the audience like sardines. The entire experience was just uncomfortable and unpleasant. They expect you to order food but the tables are barely big enough to hold a drink. Overall a bit disappointing.

JahiSundance is a top tier artist/DJ and got the party started with his masterfully diverse music selections.Love seeing him. I am huge Glasper fan and have attended several shows. He's the best at what he does and as mastered the art of connecting with his audiences. He has a vast catalog of music so I was a little disappointed he mostly played covers. I understand Black Radio has many covers but I would simply LOVE to see/hear him play more of his original music.

The show was TOP NOTCH! He did two new created songs by him and the orchestra that was simply beautiful. Then Bilal came out and kept the high level performance on par. The orchestra was Fantastic. GREAT CONCERT. Robert & Bilal hung around the stage after the show so that we could hang and talk with them. I came all the way from West Palm Beach and I knew I wouldn't be disappointed.

Great gig, but rather annoying that the organisers weren’t honest about the actual start time (9.00pm instead of 7.00pm as stated on the ticket), this clearly to squeeze as much money as possible out of a captive audience (obviously there was no re-entry).

Great show!! Mr. Glasper is truly an anointed King 👑… speaking of King- they were so dope!!! Uh- can I mention that El Debarge absolutely killed it!! Great Night!! Only whack part- Casey Benjamin was ghostin’ - where was he!! He is the vocals!!! Besides that- great and amazing show and venue. Staff was crazy nice!!! Blessings- ❤️🖤💚✊🏽🙏🏽🎹🎙

It felt more like an album release concert than a full concert of his current and classic hits…left wanting more. He was trying to feel out the audience’s take on new album when we all already love his work. A few to many band highlights and solos. We wanted more of Robert.

Great show! While many may have come to hear him play the R&B songs they hear on the radio, I came anticipating his jazz influences. Robert and his band (a trio plus a DJ) did not disappoint. All three are excellent musicians, keenly listening to one another to take their improvisation to the highest heights. The polyrhythms the drummer imposed on top of the songs were amazing. The bassist's style incorporated Flamenco and played a major role in one song where you would have thought there was a guitarist on the stage, but there wasn't. But don't get it mistaken, his grooves was solid. The DJ added an atmospheric element to many songs weaving sounds and effects in and out without being obtrusive. Also, because Robert didn't have with him all the guest artists that sing on his records, the DJ would play samples of the chorus or a key line/lyric of the song, while the band played it as an instrumental. Robert Glasper's playing draws you in. From his rich chordal piano playing to his soaring single note, multi-bar phrases and riffs during his solo, he entertains with his playing as well as the humorous things he'd talk about between songs. But wait, there's more! They even busted out into a 9/8 groove during a solo section, that was funky and suspenseful. Overall, a great show that seemed to go by so quickly even though it was a two hour gig.

Robert makes beautiful music and I liked adding to dj to add an extra layer to the songs. While I don’t think there was anything transcendent during the show it was generally quite good. My complaint would be the preshow dj added nothing, a jazz club is the wrong environment for a solo dj, and I was at the bar which in blue note turns out to be a horrible place to watch a jazz show, it’s loud, crowded, with terrible sight lines. Next time will get a table.

The show was excellent, the trio played to the crowd as well as keeping things interesting. I truly enjoyed the sounds put out by this ensemble, they were authentic and played a rather enjoyable set of fusion jazz. Would definitely come see them again.

Robert and the other artist are great within their own rights. The show was great with surprise guess, Herbie Hancock, Lalah Hathaway, Amber Navran. She with moon child check her out and Lupe Fiasco. Don't let me forget Terrace Martin The one issue I had was the show didn't jump off until 945 on a Monday, I know traffic can be bad in LA. I just wish Robert would take it more serious, Trust me I seen Christian Scott Atunde Adjuah his Style reminds me of a the greats No nonsense get down and killing it. Take your craft Serious and play like you won't be here tomorrow, All love.

PHENOMENAL! I am so thankful to Robert Glasper and the band for REAL music. That's actually hard to find these days. I had extremely high expectations and they were met beyond everything and anything I expected. The venue was intimate and not over crowded which allowed me to feel like we were just vibing out with them as true fans. Robert took requests which was really cool. They played a nice nix of songs from various albums and I especially enjoyed the covering of some classic songs. It was excellent and I believe one of the best performance I have ever experienced. Thank you gentlemen for sharing your talent and time with true fans! Can't wait until you come back to LA!

great show because it was Robert Glasper. very talented group. The organization of it was why not 5 stars. Doors open at 8pm...they didn't come on till 11pm! I get to standing room only, that's what I signed up for. But not for so long.

Robert Glasper always does an amazing job. The Promontory however is not the best spot for jazz performances. The crowd talked all through the performance so for real jazz heads it was very disrespectful and distracting. But Robert and his crew did an amazing job. They always deliver

the crowd was dead for the most part. there were a few die hards in the building. the volume was a little low. Rob and the crew killed it as usual. Concert would have been a 5, but the audio engineers and the crowd brought it down. the opening acts were amazing also.

The show was bananas! That's coming from a "In My Element" fan. We have to spread the word more about RG and the Experiment. In my opinion NOLA should have packed out the Civic Theater. We'll get straight next time. BalconyTV New Orleans is working on a solid promo idea for artist like RG that come to NOLA . Stay true to it, that's what brought the Grammy.

It was good just wish I could of heard more of Rob Glasper than all the other features artists because he's very skilled and talented. But overall good concert cool venue being no seats so you could have sat wherever. But did enjoy can't wait till he comes back to the big apple.
