About Steve Burchell
This page represents at least four artists:
1) The band, Steve (Falling down, Prelude), is a contemporary Christian band, similar in sound to Delirious? and Muse.
2) Hungarian rap artist under the WacuumAirs label
3) Dutch singer Steve has one of the most distinctive voices in music. Whether you like it or not, you know it is unmistakably Steve.
4) STEVE!!
5) Solo artist in Columbia, Missouri
Steve’s career started in 1991, when he participated in the “Soundmix-show “ on Dutch television. In this programme, you had to impersonate your favourite singer. His performance as Gene Pitney, with the song “It hurts to be in love” was noticed by the record company and his first single “I think I love you” became his first small hit.
Working with legendary singer and best friend Maggie MacNeal (Mouth & MacNeal) and her husband Frans Smit, pushed Steve’s carreer to new hights . After a couple of hectic years, Steve moved to the United States and was asked to record the soundtrack of the movie “Tropic Heat” as well as the Sound track of the Danish movie “River of Stone”.
After five years, Steve moved back to the Netherlands.
In 2004 Steve recorded his smash hit “Bye Bye” which was written by his favourite songwriter Alejandro Abad. His two best friends Frans Smit and his wife Sjoukje Smit (Maggie MacNeal) produced this catchy song. In that same year Sjoukje, Frans and Steve decided that the time was ripe to participate in the National preselections for the Dutch songcontest. The song “Life goes on “ was written specially for this occassion. Unfortunately it didn’t quite made it to the finals, but the audience loved the song.
In 2005 Steve ’s producer Frans Smit died due to cancer. Another producer had to be found.
Top producer Velibor Weller, who was responsible for the succes of Dutch teengroup CHIPZ and singer Gordon, is the new producer of Steve.
