Santa Semeli And The Monks is an International music group dedicated to bringing excellence to the world of entertainment! Formed in 2013, Santa Semeli and the Monks catalogue consists of over 70 songs, covering a vast variety of musical genres. Labelled as New Wave, Avant Garde, Punk Rock, Classic Songwriting…SSATM is diverse, exciting and original in a time of musical decline. Since their formation they’ve performed live in New York, Paris and London, Iceland and Cyprus. In June 2014 SSATM independently released the dance single ‘Arrivederci Bob’ through their label Cosima Music, which Paul Sexton from the Sunday times described as “A lot of fun!” comparing it to the coolness of new wave band the Waitresses. Icelandic national paper Morgunbladid called it an “Upbeat dance tune with witty and cryptic lyrics. A poetic explosion!” The song reached #3 in the Cyprus i-Tunes charts. In November 2014 SSATM released to critical acclaim their self titled debut album John Hind from the Observer described: "Lovely, stirring, sensitive, clever and funny!" Tim Foster writes: "Sounding like 'Cabaret' rewritten by Nick Cave and an early David Bowie they are a band who explore the human condition realising what the atmosphere and content of the early Dadaist events at the Cabaret Voltaire in Zurich* must have been like! " British comedian Frank Skinner is a fan and and has played their songs on his Absolute Radio show. Semeli’s volcanic stage presence has been compared to the likes of Kate Bush, Liza Minnelli,Patti Smith, Rita Haywarth and Marlene Dietrich whilst her poetic versatility reminds a young Lou Reed. SSATM are known for collaborating with the industry's finest musicians. Some of them include Gaspar Hunt on piano, Joe Mardin on drums, Shyam Nepali on sarangi, Gudny Jonasdottir on cello, Paul Ogunsalu on bass and Angela Babin on guitar.
