About Despot

Despot, also known as Alec Reinstein, is a hip hop artist signed to New York City based Def Jux Records. Despot makes his home in Forest Hills, Queens, where he settled after dropping out of Purchase College.

Just to let everyone know, I hope to have the album out late summer/early fall although I can't be absolutely sure that will happen. It will be on Definitive Jux Records with production duties being handled by Blockhead, Ratatat, Algernon, and some others. Also, that "verses vs. beats" verse called "Despot" which always seems to find its way to the internet is very old. it was recorded when I was 16 or 17 and I am none too proud of it. enjoy. though. ok.
