About Amerie

Amerie Rogers (born January 12, 1978), known professionally as Amerie, is an African/Korean-American R&B singer/songwriter. She is currently signed to Island Def Jam Music Group Records. Amerie has released three albums. Her 2002 debut album "All I Have" was highly acclaimed by critics. However after three singles - "Why Don't We Fall In Love", "Talkin' To Me" and ''I Just Died'' - each failed to reach Top 10, her fortunes waned.

In 2005, Amerie burst back onto the music scene with her fourth single "1 Thing", which was used as the theme song for the movie "Hitch". "1 Thing" went to the top of the charts in various international markets, including the US, UK & Ireland. Amerie was now established as a worldwide superstar.

The single "Touch" followed, which, while not as successful as "1 Thing", nevertheless went on to become a massive European club anthem. "Touch" topped various interactive charts and reached the top ten in official charts.

Her second album, also called "Touch", was a success, going gold in the States. The album didn't do as well in the European market, but did manage to reach the Top 30 in the UK, and the Top 10 in Ireland.

Her third album 'Because I Love It' was released in the UK & Europe on May 14th 2007. The single "Take Control" was the first single released off the album, which enjoyed international success. The second single "Gotta Work" did not fare as well in the charts, despite receiving heavy airplay on UK and European music video channels. The album peaked at number 17 in the UK charts.

Her new album is scheduled for US release in 2008.
