About The Hedgerow Folk
The Hedgerow Folk was formed out of Auburn, AL in 2012 when Jon Myles and Amanda Hammett began leading worship together in their local church body. They soon recognized something special in the combination of their voices, and began to pursue the idea of recording some original music that Jon had been writing. Bryant Hains and Jon had previously been in bands together and had a friendship and mutual respect for one another as artists. After some prayer and consideration, Jon, Bryant, and Amanda began working and writing together and eventually solidified their group under the name The Hedgerow Folk (taken from a line of a C.S. Lewis poem).
In 2014, they released their first album, Come Close. The heart of this album was to lead people into a time of abiding and being with the Father, through songs that centered around quiet reflection and intimacy with Christ. The music seemed to resonate with hearts both locally and internationally through platforms such as Noisetrade. Within months of releasing Come Close, the Lord began to birth new music in their hearts. He compelled them to write songs of healing, for the broken and hurting, and songs of certainty for those who feel lost. These ten new songs comprise their second album, titled Compass, which was released in April 2017. The heart of this album proclaims to God that though we may not understand Him, we trust Him.
