The Asps

Artist Bio Asps are a band that draw influences from a variety of bands such as Duran Duran, The Cars, Nik Kershaw, Gary Numan and Joy Division while retaining a contemporary sound in line with Hurts, M83, Ellie Goulding, Nero and many more. The band consists of half man half machine, with sound design by Philjo and vocals by PJ Dourley . Asps design all their sounds and add a touch of Classic Pop flair to the melodies and vocals. Asps were formed in 2009 and have achieved an astounding amount of interest from our audiences, the press and major music industry figures alike.Asps have worked with London based producer Matt Hyde (Slipknot, Ash, Fightstar) and Jamie Watson ( Snowpatrol, Belle & Sebastian, The Vaselines) on a number of occasions. 2012 seen Asps flourish; they hooked up with Livenation over the summer and played Hyde Park during the Olympics with McFly at BT London Live. They also entered Hard Rock Rising and won the Scottish Heats playing the main stage at The Edinburgh Rock N Roll marathon with Kassidy as headliners. This aside, Asps are technically writers and have used these ventures as a vehicle to further their knowledge and understanding of the music business and indeed, songwriting. Their music is now firmly rooted in Electro dance and 2014 will see some of the biggest collaborations to date. 'Being in a band when you are technically a lover of all music is a bit like being in a cage in the middle of a beach, you want to get out and do everything but the very nature of the thing you are trapped by does not allow it. It makes me wonder if the blueprint of a band actually works in this day and age'.- PJ Dourley. Asps signed a publishing deal with Sony ATV. Asps are working with Jon Campbell of TTF structuring demo's. Last year PJ Dourley was invovled in a project with Lauren Pope and the producer Sibling .
