About Jeremy Porter

Jeremy Porter
Jeremy Porter
Jeremy Porter and The Tucos are an original rock and roll trio from Detroit, Michigan. Their music is as diverse as the city itself, embodying Detroit’s blue-collar, industrial work-aesthetic with paths laid by the MC5, The Stooges, The Amboy Dukes, and Motown into new directions influenced by 80’s post-punk (Hüsker Dü, X), 90/00’s americana/roots (Uncle Tupelo, Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers), and classic rock, powerpop, and country bands (Thin Lizzy, Dwight Yoakam, The Who, Waylon Jennings, Cheap Trick).

Jeremy Porter’s musical journey started in 1986 as a founding member of The Regulars - one of the first punk bands from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. He moved to Detroit in the late 80s, formed SlugBug and The OffRamps, and began playing solo-acoustic shows.

In 2019 he formed The Tucos, who’ve released 5 albums, toured the US and Canada extensively, and the UK in 2018, and become a local headliner and one of the go-to support bands for national acts coming through Detroit. The lineup includes Jake Riley (Matt Woods, Big Shoals) on bass and Troy Toma (Trash Brats, Fret Buzz) on drums. Their new album Sell Their Souls is out now and they'll be on the road supporting it for the foreseeable future.
