EIRWEN SKYE

“Why did you run / out from the night / I had fallen under Isn’t it cold / without my tears / upon your shoulder We were in love / but you did not know it at all” Eirwen Skye is a solo singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who uses loops of ukulele, vocals and various ‘toy’ instruments to create a layered, gospel-folk sound. The highly emotive lyrics are an essay in the meaning of ‘unrequited’, delivered with a voice that is far bigger than her small frame would suggest. Originally from Sydney, she has played with much-awarded Australian artists such as The Jezabels, Tim Rodgers (You Am I) and Skipping Girl Vinegar and also toured internationally in the UK and Europe. Recently she was chosen to perform for German-based Hauzkonzerte.com, and was a featured artist on their homepage in February 2012. Filmed at 2am in a Munich basement, the video session shows the intimacy of an Eirwen Skye performance. She has also performed as a guest artist with Deep Sea Diver and Caitlin Park.
