About Lamarama
LAMA are the enigmatic 8-piece distilled from the outfit formerly known as Lamarama, who had been frequenting all corners of Melbourne’s music grid for half a decade. This new and revamped line-up is fast becoming known around the traps for their vivacious and colourful live show. With eight members collaborating from such diverse backgrounds, you end up with an intriguing and authentic mix of tunes reminiscent of some of the bands favourite artists. Inspirations are drawn from the likes of The Beatles, Radiohead, Fiona Apple, Muse, Queen, Ben Folds, Rolling Stones, Snarky Puppy and The Flaming Lips. “I think diversity can play a huge role, we have the biggest Beatles fan as well as the most die-hard Stones fan in the band – so I think we did alright”- Dave Adams, singer Lead singer Dave Adams takes the audience with songs of loss, anarchistic rants and psychedelic adventures - whether it be the plight of a French burlesque dancer (a fugitive from death) or an obscure primary school tale of disappearing into the grass... The quirky presence of an unorthodox horn section (flute, trumpet, bass clarinet and sax) brings a satirical and orchestral layer to the band. This is atop waves of lush harmonies and a rhythm section that will lay down some filthy grooves. For a band that lives and plays together, what we can rely on is that these guys are a tight-knit unit who have spent the last six months writing their new set, and have begun recording their first ever full length album. LAMA single "Wolf" due out April 2016...album due out later this year!
