About Michael Fraser
At a Michael Fraser show, you'll be ushered from room to room through the house of music that Michael himself helped build. From the first note played on his violin to the last pulse from his sound system, Michael Fraser takes his crowd's collective soul on a fantastic voyage. Weaving in and out of corners filled with the sounds of his original creations and thoughtful curations, knowing just the right time to leave one space and move into another, Michael will take you on a journey with a tantalizing beginning, an entrancing middle and happy ending that will leave you completely satisfied.
Through the sound of Michael Fraser's violin, succumb to your true emotions and feel the house music while you dance to the sound of your truest connection to the life-force lineage, the rhythm of the heart. With his violin in hand, Michael accompanies himself using a mixer and (two or four) turntables to blend and tweak the soundtrack to suit each audience's collective journey.
Michael's live DJ experience has been featured as an opening act for artists such as Beats Antique, Jeremy Sole, Caravan Palace and more. His original mixes were performed by Fort Knox Five and Nick Hollywood. He's toured internationally and been featured at festivals worldwide such as Denmark's Aarhus Jazz, 2010 Olympics and Shambhala.
“Michael’s gypsy violin DJ set at Shambhala… [He] set the stage for the circus of Electro-Swing performers that followed”–Byron Whitlaw, Shambhala Music Festival
As a music producer, Michael Fraser's aim is to create musical fusions that are accessible, dance-friendly and theatrical in their scope. Michael released his second single, "Jump & Swing," on the world acclaimed, UK-based electro-swing record label, Freshly Squeezed Music. After hearing his first single, "Django Style," Ben Affleck approached Michael to score his animated film, "Ben Affleck on The Meaning of Life" and in 2016, Michael was also invited by Academy Award winning director Alejandro González Iñárritu to perform live in a scene for the film, "The Revenant." Michael's pieces gave the films an emotional context that can only be translated through the kind of musical feeling Michael puts into his work.
