About The Sey Sisters
Behind this name there is a spectacular trio of black voices. The Sey Sisters invite us to a meaningful journey from gospel to African music, surrounding it with soul; chants impregnate of deep emotion emerge from the fight against the injustice, civil rights movement and the hope for a better future. Rich harmonies, a Capella chants and their charismatic performances are combined to bring back de soul and the gospel spirit, with which they want to pursue their place as afro-descendants.
African spirit and gospel pleasant fusion, from Ghanaian descendants this three sisters extend their amazing voices all over the globe, combining their catchy rhythm, contagious energy, unquestionable talent and their true passion.
Since the creation as vocal group in 2006, they’ve been performing on festivals around Catalonia, Spain and did collaborations with some national and international artists.
Their first album was released on 2015 “Let freedom ring” (Temps Record), with which they toured around Spain for two years, with a positive and enthusiastic response from a wide and countless audience.
On September 2018 they release their new album “Rise” (Satélite K):
“RISE was born from the need to express ourselves from what we are: black women borned in Catalonia with our concerns, our fears and our strenghts. It was born from the need to visualize a social sector that is rarely taken into consideration, the afro collective and the afrodescendants. Those who are descendants of migrated people who even having been born and raised in Catalonia, we still fight every day to make our skin colour does not determine who we are.”
RISE is a call to a personal revolution. It is a call to a personal and a collective acceptance. It is a call to the visibility.
The Sey Sisters, with clothing that combines African tradition with European culture, share their project with the pianist and saxophonist Albert Bartolomé, with whom they complete a beautiful circle of positive energy and fresh air that define their accurate shows.
