John Petrucci

Having seen Petrucci with D.T. many times I knew what to expect. Or so I thought. Along with the brilliance of Portnoy and LaRue, the performance was stunning to say the least. Songs from both his solo albums were masterfully played, along with some impromtu jams and extended solos. I've seen all the great guitarists from Blackmore, Beck, Ray Vaughn to Satch, Vai, Wilde and Malmsteen> This man is the very best Live or studio. Jaws Of Life left my lower one on the floor. If you like guitar check this Master out. The best concert I have ever seen. out of hundreds. Thankyou Mike Portnoy and Dave LaRue for your intense and skillful performance too. What a trio. Those who were there will NEVER FORGET that night. Hope they put out a dvd or live cd. Attention guitar virtuosos...the Live bar is set.

Petrucci and Portnoy make it worth every penny and way more by their extremely high level of musicianship and incredible live performances. I’m glad and fortunate that I got to see them live at least once in my life!

What a treat it was to see John, Mike Portnoy and Dave LaRue jamming together!!! Superb musicianship!!! It was awesome seeing these guys doing a ‘smaller venue/bar tour!!! Don’t pass up a chance to see John’s first solo headline tour…it’s off the chain!!! Thanks to the folks at the Royal Grove (Lincoln, Nebraska) for putting on such a quality event!!!

Always professional and brilliant, it’s such a pleasure to hear the music of Petrucci! What a bonus that his band is Mike Portnoy on drums and Dave LaRue on bass. These three guys are so tight, and between John’s two solo albums there was so much goodness to be had! Thanks guys! You killed!!

Amazing show! This is one of the greatest guitar players of our time. He was partnered with his old DreamTheater band mate Mike Portnoy. Mike is an amazing drummer and this team was incredible. A mind boggling array of talent was on display for two plus hours. If you get a chance to go to this tour…. GO!

I wanted to see Petrucci a long time now but I got to see them with my son ,added bonus the first band not so much although the drummer of Meanstreak was solid a rock band to remember

Incredible musicians! Huge fan. Awesome concert! I would give 3 stars to the sound engineer or whoever is responsible to set the overall volume of the concert. The quality was great but it was way too loud!! Downloaded a sound meter app for curiosity and the volume was at about 90dB. I'd be more pleasant to have the volume set to a volume that doesn't make your ears hurt.

Phenomenal! Mean Streak was a lot of fun, and seeing Portnoy back with Petrucci was great, the musical chemistry is undeniable!!! Seeing them together at G3 with Paul Gilbert and Joe Satriani was my first concert back in 2006, and would turn out to be the only time I saw them together until last night! REALLY AWESOME show, and big shout out to Dave Larue as well, he's great both in Petrucci's solo material as well as with Mike in Flying Colors!

All was superb except for the lack of event staff. The first 8 rows remained standing the entire show and it was a challenge to see him play. Event staff should be present to make sure everyone is sitting and everyone pays gets to enjoy the show without a blocked view.

John was unbelievable as usual, and it was nice to see his chemistry with Portnoy on stage. Dave and Meanstreak were great too. This was one of my absolute favorite shows ever. Easily the best venue I've ever been to. Incredible staff, nice theater room, and parking was free!

Amazing to see JP and MP together! Add Dave LaRue and you’ve got three of the most talented musicians alive sharing a stage. Their presence was amazing and performance flawless. I really hope there’s another tour because I would definitely see them again!

Tremendously awesome evening of music. First time seeing Meastreak and they were fantastic. I love the Capital Theater. Great sound! Petrucci, Portnoy & Larue are so talented play very well together!!! A great night of musicianship & music!!!

Sound was perfect……Portnoy’s drumming was perfect……LaRue’s bass playing perfect……John Petrucci’s playing was mind blowing perfection! He has proven yet again, WHY he’s one of the greatest guitarists!!!! Meanstreak , the opening band, was awesome!!!

Great show! John and Mike were locked in and smokin'! Only criticism is for the sound guys: unnecessarily and way too loud!! Average dB's in middle of orchestra were 107 with peaks of 127 dB. Glad I had ear plugs but pity the permanently damaged hearing of those who did not. JJB, MD

Petrucci is a guitar God, I actually think he’s under rated, but we know better. Seeing him play with Mike Portnoy again was amazing….and Dave LaRue is an excellent bassist. All around great show that flew by. Let’s not forget about the heavy as shit set by Meanstreak…WOW!!

Amazing show even better than I would have expected being the first time John and Mike have played together in about 12 years. It was emotional and John ripped it up way more so than in a dream theater shows of which I’ve seen most of them since 1998. Who played most of the first to solo albums that he has put out with some nice jams. Unfortunately the New Jersey audience was very small and it was depressing and embarrassing but I know the New York show tonight wasn’t much more sold. Did not seem to matter to the guys who had a blast and played their hearts out

Incredible show with three of the most talented musicians on earth. Sound was great and not a bad seat in the house. Accolades John, Mike and Dave. Also a big thanks for including Albany, NY in your tour schedule. Openers Meanstreak were also a pleasant surprise, good band and good tunes.

Just freaking wow! It was a pleasure to see John, Mike, and Dave grooving and shredding azz. Their virtuosity exploded, then got dynamically mellower, while always staying edgy. And seeing them at Berkeley with its great sound… Hope to see them again

Unbelievable show, Petrucci and Portnoy have that energy that only two guys who love their trade and have been friends for decades can bring. You could tell they were having as much fun as the audience.

My star rating reflects my overall concert experience that day and is in no way a reflection of the musical quality. There's never been any reason to doubt these musicians. The casual jam vibe was enjoyable.
