About Big Atomic

Much like the quantum harmonic oscillations of electrons in an atom, the membership of Big Atomic has developed into a series of covalent musical relationships...
In other words - a community.
The atom is the building block of all matter - think of the players like atoms - sharing experiences with other players - sometimes a rotating cast - spinning around a central purpose.
The goal of the band is to reach out - to be big - but not in a commercial way necessarily - in an inclusive way. The band has included teachers, counselors, engineers, music therapists, environmentalists, bartenders, activists, and of course - artists: writers, poets, musicians.
Building community and building a better world is Big Atomic’s core mission. That’s the reason the lead singer works for a non profit - The Pete Foundation - who’s mission is suicide prevention and raising awareness about mental health.
On their first full length album ‘Activator’ they tell us again and again - “rely on your friends, we’re all one and the same, we can shape our own reality and build a better future”
On this latest release they get into the specifics of what that actually looks like - They face the harsh truths of a world shaped by economic injustice, social injustice, racial injustice, a global pandemic and the struggles of capitalism and authoritarianism.
Gone are some of the naive ‘feel good’ lyrics of the last album - but what remains is the work - building that community - building that better world.
Big Atomic is trying to do that work the best way they know how, through music that focuses on the values we share, the music that brings us together - physically and mentally. They genuinely want to progress the human condition - they want us to evolve.
It’s a lot of work for a rock band to take on alone - but thankfully they’re not alone.
We’re all in it together.
