Kíla
Kíla have been hailed as one of Ireland’s most innovative and exciting bands.
Coming from differring musical backgrounds, each member of this Trad Fusion group share a passion to create great music, and with an ability to absorb influences from across the globe they have created their own distinctive style of world music. With thier roots in traditional Irish music they feature percussive and balladic songs, gorgeous melodies, fabulous arrangements and a serious rhythmical undercurrent.
Kíla have won over audiences around the world with their spectacular live performances and are widely renowned for their stunning sets and surprise guest performers at their shows, including trapeze artists, choirs, dancers and more recently an eight piece brass ensemble. Their energetic live performances have seen them continue to wow new audiences in over 35 countries throughout the world, at festivals; the likes of - Womadelaide (Auz), Womad (Eng, Spain and Sicily, New Z), Sigzet Festival (Hung), Montreaux Jazz Festival (Swiz), Stockholm Water Festival (Swe), Globaltica (Pol), Glastonbury, Boomtown Cambridge Folk Fest (Eng), Celtic Connections (Scot), RWMF (Mal), KAMWA (Rus), Opening ceremony of Special Olympics (Ire).
