Off & On

Off & On formed in early 2013 between Rocío Del Mar, Tim Landers, and Ryan Alfonso. The trio began formulating ideas for what would be their first release, Good Talk Vol. 1 at Tim’s make-shift studio just outside of Boston, Massachusetts. In late 2013, the group approached Justine DeFeo, showing her the blueprint for the EP the four of them would soon complete together. The band’s sound is well-balanced between rock & roll and electronic sounds to create a refreshing and buoyant atmosphere. Rosie, Tim, and Justine’s vocals are easy to differentiate from each other when alone, but when together create harmonies that always sound in unison. The contrasts and comparisons between Off & On’s recordings and live performances are both equally engaging. Listeners are able to gain more of the band’s foundation during live sets and are left with gratification after hearing live translations of their recordings. Bands who Off & On can be understandingly related to are Metric, Tegan and Sara, The 1975, and The Naked and Famous. Good Talk Vol. 1, a four song EP was self-recorded, produced, and released by the band in digital format during March of 2014. On the same day of the EP’s release, a music video was released for their single, “Madison”. The group stayed occupied after the release of Good Talk Vol. 1 by playing shows in the New England area and setting out for a short run in August along the East Coast and also touching upon areas of the Mid-West. During this tour, Off & On performed at an after-party for Fashion Meets Music’s first festival in Columbus, Ohio, which consisted of headlining bands such as Local Natives, Cold War Kids, Circa Survive, and Vacationer. Off & On had been preparing for their second release Good Talk Volume 2, with a similar preparation as their first release. The band teamed up with intheclouds, a small indie label for the physical and digital release of the EP. Good Talk Vol. 2 was released in March 2015.
