About Leon Of Athens
Greek American alt-pop star ‘Leon of Athens’ channels a similar widescreen pop sensibility as ‘Lauv’ and ‘MARINA’ , who he has both supported live, alongside the flamboyant indie beauty of ‘Sufjan Stevens’. His new single '17' showcases just why he has become a big live draw across Europe & the US where he has appeared at major international festivals such as Bonnaroo , Primavera, Firefly , Summerfest, Shaky Knees & Okeechobee. His upcoming album “Athens On Repeat” follows his highly acclaimed album release “Xenos” , championed by the likes of The Guardian, NME, Q, New York Times and more. Leon has also collaborated with critically- acclaimed ‘Portugal. The Man’ who remixed his song ‘Communication’ as well as Oscar-nominated Greek director Yiorgos Lanthimos who created a short film for his song ‘Baby Asteroid’.
“Brainy pop inspired by Bernardo Bertolucci, inflected with electronic, folk and other flavours” – The Guardian
“Leon of Athens has mastered the art of electronica-tickled, horn-smattered, melodic pop.” – NME
“The Greek god of indie-pop” – Wonderland
“In this place where tragedy was invented, the song was joyful and sadly cathartic.” – New York Times
