There are 3 artists with the name Shorty.
(1) Shorty is one name for a reggae artist active in the 1970s, also known as Shorty the President or President Shorty. He worked with Bunny Lee amongst others.
(2) Shorty was officially born in 1991 under the guise of vocalist Al Johnson and guitarist Mark Shippy. Along with drummer Todd Lamparelli and bassist Luke Frantom, they released three singles and two albums.
The group became Shorty and decided to officially keep the moniker in September. Atlanta, GA, label Worry Bird released the band's first 7", Last One in My Mouth Is a Jerk, late that year.
The group spent a week laying down songs at the Chicago Recording Company and mixing them at Steve Albini's home. Thirty five hundred copies of Shorty's debut LP, Thumb Days, were pressed by the Southern Germany based Gasoline Boost Records in April of 1993.
Shorty set out for a European tour in April of 1994. The band spent a month on the road with Champaign, IL, rock trio the Didjits. As they returned to America, Frantom had some personal business matters he had to take care of, which ultimately caused his separation from the band.
Shippy and Johnson gathered guitarist Todd Rittmann and drummer Jim Kimball -- to begin working on a new group. After replacing Kimball with Pat Samson, the new band became U.S. Maple.

(4) Shorty, also known as Airi, is a fan-artist that sings covers of J-Pop and K-Pop songs. She is most known for her participation and leadership in the weMAKESmusic♪, as well as being the oldest in the group. She is also continuing with a solo project aside from weMAKESmusic♪.
