‘Hoping As A Coping Mechanism’ - the debut album from Bristol trio Mould (vocalist and guitarist Joe Sherrin, vocalist and bassist Kane Eagle, and drummer James Luxton) - is the product of more than a decade of friendship; of playing together and building the innate synergy that fuels their idiosyncrasies and unexpected sonic turns. As heavy and riffy as they are poppy and catchy, Mould’s debut finds the playful moments that combine both and fills them with an outlook that’s world-weary but still, as its title suggests, finding audible joy amongst it all.
