About Maria Faust
Maria Faust (born 1979) is an Estonian saxophone player and composer living in Copenhagen, Denmark. Faust is best known in the fields of third stream jazz, modern big band music, improvised music and other more alternative music styles. She is a member of the musical collective and record label Barefoot Records. Maria leads several of her own bands, including the Maria Faust Jazz Catastrophe, Maria Faust Group, and Pistol Nr. 9, as well as being a member of other smaller constellations with musicians like Axel Dörner, Nina De Heney, Liudas Mockunas, Tristan Honsinger, Lars Andreas Haug, Qarin Wikström and many more. Her bands have played the major festivals in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Lithuania and have toured in Europe, Russia and China. Faust has released several recordings as a leader on Barefoot Records, including Pistol Nr. 9's debut ”Fest På Amager” (2012), the self-titled ”Maria Faust Jazz Catastrophe” (2013), and two with the Maria Faust Group - ”Bitchlap Boogie” (2008) and ”Warrior Horse” (2010). She can also be found on the Barefoot Records compilation ”Ears on/Socks off.” Maria Faust is an Estonian saxophone player and composer living in Copenhagen, Denmark.
