About Le Mans
There are at least two groups with the name “Le Mans"...
1. Le Mans from Spain formed in the Basque city of San Sebastian. The group was previously known as Aventuras de Kirlian but changed their name after being dropped by the Dro label due to poor sales.
Throughout the 90’s Le Mans released a string of EP’s and albums on Spain’s Elefant label. Taking influence from nascent jangle-pop, Young Marble Giants, Curtis Mayfield and Tamla Motown, their sound was avowedly anti-rock. Guitars were recorded “clean” and writers such as the fanzine editor Gayle Boa commented upon the “gentle continental lilt” of their music.
Since the break-up of the group, guitarist Ibon Errazkin has released two LP’s under his own name, both on Elefant. Bass player Teresa Iturrioz has released an LP as Single, also on Elefant.
2. Le Mans from Sweden are a 6 piece from the town of Eskilstuna.
