About Prokop
Alright now!
Prokop is a fine true travelling troubadour of the old school with a twist for the modern world. He is as at home singing in the snug front room of an English pub as he is in at any slick city venue.
His travel informs his work, be Postcards from Edinburgh or the joys of All the Pubs of Hull. His clever, nimble guitar work enhances his art further still. Wherever Prokop lays his hat becomes his musical home and the good folks of the UK City of Culture turned out in good number for his farewell gig at the city’s famous live venue –The Adephi Club late last year – before his return to France.
His post-graduate studies of race, ethnicity and identity politics at that city’s university informs his clever, witty and thought-provoking lyrics.
He was a favourite with the music and arts community in that city and soon established himself as a ‘Hull lad.’
The fact that his resemblance to a young Bob Dylan is not solely a physical one enhances this artist’s appeal.
In short, Prokop is more than just ‘alright’!
Brian W. Lavery, Hull, January 2018… writer, journalist and teacher –
Author: The Headscarf Revolutionaries and The Luckiest Thirteen (Barbican Press)
