About Valentina Evans
“If you melded Chavela Vargas, Ella Fitzgerald and Gal Costa together, you’d find Valentina’s voice there somewhere in between…”
- Felipe Fournier, 2017 Latin Grammy award winning producer
Equal parts singer, dancer and jaranera, Valentina epitomizes the mélange parfait as a California-born, New York-raised daughter of Mexican and Jamaican immigrants. Together with her extraordinary band, their sound combines her rich and diverse background, including an array of soulful Latin and American folk music and dance. With a voice that’s been hailed for its seductive magnetism, beauty, depth and dynamics, Valentina can easily accommodate herself into any number of genres, always taking her audience on an emotional journey through classic, contemporary and original songs meant to connect, as music is life.
Having toured the world both as a soloist and as a member of Jarana Beat and Latin Grammy Award winning Flor de Toloache, she is now joining artistic forces with Latin Grammy Award winning producer Felipe Fournier (Costa Rica) to create a compelling new production that will narrate her heart's journey thus far, while seamlessly tying together the numerous musical influences of her upbringing.
