Between the Buried and Me

Saw BTBAM for the first time at The Nile in Mesa. The second time this year last night was night and day difference at Crescent Ballroom. The sound system and acoustics were much better here compared to Nile, and I could actually hear how technically impressive and clean they sounded versus just distortion. I hope they never play Nile again and will definitely see them every time they come to AZ.

BTBAM est pour moi le meilleur groupe de métal progressif que je connaisse ! J'ai eu la surprise de voir qu'un nouveau jeune guitariste était présent dans les rangs du groupe. Je ne pense pas que le balcon est été un bon choix car le son plus que médiocre a gâché l'exceptionnelle qualité des compositions du groupe. On ne pourra pas dire non plus que les lumières ont transcendé le concert ... Le set a également été de courte durée. Au final, plutôt déçu même si les musiciens nous ont montré que leurs jeux et leurs compositions étaient très au dessus du lot. A une prochaine fois, dans une autre salle.

BTBAM was insane, so prog, mathcore, melotic death metal, metalcore, spaghetti western all mixed in one! Each member played 2 instruments and it was crazy, they put on hell of a show and the crowd went wild for them! Some awesome sound production and lighting! Can't wait to see them again! One of the greatest live bands today!🤘🤘🤘

The venue was incredibly clean. The seats were comfortable. There was access to four bars and at least two restrooms. The space was great and the sound was very good for all acts. Of course the bands were incredible. BTBAM is my favorite band so my expectations for them is always high and always satisfied. I would say the Joy is a good alternative to the Saenger Theater. Overall this was a great experience from beginning to end!

the venue was beautiful & so unique & the staff were exceptionally kind/caring/attentive!!! last but not least between the buried & me is the greatest band of all time! musically speaking & also just speaking on a human level! coolest most talented dudes in the universe! blake gave my daughter (it was her first concert ever & she's only 7) one of his drumsticks' that he played the show with! & paul noticed her & would come up to the edge of the stage to smile sweetly at her/act silly while playing & kept coming back multiple times for her! (we were so lucky to be up front left/stage right!) truly was the most magical experience of our lives together as a family so far! 🥹💝

BTBAM always hits! They put on a great show time and time again. Their musical talent is unparalleled. Not a weak member in the band. Blake, their drummer, has to be one of the best out there. Paul… I mean does it get better? I think not! Their sound was perfection. Always professional and well rehearsed. You know you will get a great show any time BTBAM preforms!

BTBAM are always amazing live! They never disappoint and sound just as good if not better live as in studio.I was front row at this show and Brooklyn Bowl’s sound was great because of all the monitors up front. every part was clear. Rivers of Nihl were a great choice for this tour playing similar music. And Thank You Scientist are fun and entertaining for any crazy jazz fusion prog fan. I had a blast, what an amazing show!!

The heat and humidity was nearly unbearable at times last night. Not the fault of The Nile or anything, just a rough Phoenix summer night. That being said, BtBaM was nothing but professional and incredible. They never bitched, they never interrupted the show, they went right through The Parallax II with energy and love. Amazing show!

Opening bands were great. BTBAM was incredible. Sound quality was a little off for Rivers of Nihil, but it was fine for the other two bands. Great venue. Balcony seats were very comfortable and great view of the stage. I will be seeing this tour at least one more time and will definitely come back to the Palladium in Worcester!

Excellent show. Clearly the headliner for me out of the four bands that played. They played five extended tracks as the third band to play - and it was GLORIOUS. Well worth the price of admission. Definitely expert musicians, dedicated to their craft, and delivered beyond a five star performance. I'm a BTBAM fan for life. Period.

I've been a concert enthusiast for a lot of years. My first was Maiden in March of 87. There have been a LOT between then and now. Many hundreds. But this show was a first for me. But we'll get to that in a minute. Opener "Car Bomb" was first. They played for a solid hour. Competent musicians, one and all, but not a songwriter in the group. Every time they started to play something that resembled a hook or a groove, they veered away from it just as fast, never to return. Made it all terribly uninteresting. Enough of that. BTBAM hit the stage promptly at 9:30, and didn't stop until about 10:40. At all. No instrument changes. No pauses. No banter with the crowd. Nothing. At one point, guitarist Dustie Waring grabbed a chair and sat down for about 20 minutes of the set. Not, like, an "acoustic interlude" set or anything - full-bore metal set, dude chilling on a folding chair. To be honest, he was pretty static even when he was standing, betraying little emotion as he riffed through his parts. The other guys were more animated, and I wondered if perhaps he was sick. Anyway, about 10:40, they DID take a pause to say hi and thank everyone, before kicking off one last song, then returning again for an encore, before which guitarist Paul Waggoner spoke and joked for a bit. Song choices were great, performance was fantastic, especially for such dense and varied material. Sound was troubled in the beginning, with the first 4 songs or so sounding like one of the PA speakers was blown, but somehow that problem went away. Solid show from a great band, but opener Car Bomb had no business playing an hour long set here.

BTBAM was sick, as always. Voice of trespass was awesome live. Hoping they never tour with Chon, again. I was excited to check out Chon, but their music was way repetitive with no structure. I left when they said they were only halfway through. They also have a real annoying way of addressing the crowd.

Really great show, didn't even matter that it was a small venue. All the bands, especially Between the Buried and Me, performed with such passion and clarity. Still sounded live, but was very clean and I consider it one of the best shows I've seen live honestly! Can't wait to see them again!

The opening band, Astronoid, was not very good. TesseracT was great! Between the Buried and Me was amazing! However, the venue was not the best. It was small and crowded, standing only, and a moshpit in the center kept getting too wild for my taste. Someone's face was bleeding when I looked over at one point, but this was my first metal concert, so maybe that's normal. To sum it up, the music was great, but not the venue. BTBAM is definitely a must see live!

I’m terrible with song titles, but BTBAM’s setlist as best as I could tell was: 1) the proverbial bellow 2) fossil genera 3) grid 4) specular reflection (just last 25% or so) 5) Telos 6) option oblivion 7) life in velvet 8) voice of tresspass Encore: condemned to the gallows
