About Causion

“Causion Antigua’s Reggae Ambassador is on a Mission”

Born Gregory Colin Bailey, in Falmouth on the beautiful shores of the twin-island nation of Antigua & Barbuda, Causion hails from a family of established musicians and cultural paragons and did not have to search far for inspiration.

As a student at the Antigua’s Sunny Side School, Causion was inspired by reggae music and aspired to be a professional artist. He decisively and strategically worked towards establishing his musical career.

Causion recorded his debut, the uplifting ‘African Girl’, in combination with the UK-based DJ Spider Don. He migrated to New York and embarked on a diverse musical journey and emerged as an accomplished Reggae Producer/Vocalist/Songwriter and Reggae Ambassador for Antigua and Barbuda.

Causion continued on a path of worldwide acclaim and recording success with three successive chart topping albums: "Time Will Tell,” “One Life to Live,” and “Stella’s Kids,” featuring timeless tracks such as “Intimidation,” “Born to Be Dread,” “Get To Know Jah, Glad You are Mine” and the controversial track, “Little Secrets.”

With the release of his reggae song and video "Cold Sweat," a prelude to his fourth album " Mission in Progress" Causion, has embarked on a cultural odyssey, on a mission to take his musical career to another level.

The song "Cold Sweat," produced by Maurice Gregory for MasTrak Music label, was originally recorded by the late great Bunny Ruggs of Third World and was featured originally on their album – Journey to Addis in 1978.

As the opening act, touring with the legendary group Third World for the past 2 and half years, Causion has been established as a star reincarnation in the modern reggae circuit. Guided by the acumen and musical legacy of Third World, Causion painstakingly preserves the lyrical and musical authenticity, but brings his own eclectic infusion, charisma, and stage appeal to a loyal fan base and also a new generation of music enthusiasts and culture seekers.

“I try to better myself with each album and whether I write the song or not, there must be a positive message and consciousness portrayed. My work is a true reflection of my experiences and my identity as a Caribbean artist," says Causion.

Over the years, he has toured throughout the US, Canada and the Caribbean with some of Reggae’s best and brightest artists such as: Rita Marley, Third World, Dennis Brown, Freddie McGregor and Judy Mowatt to name a few. Giving stellar performances each and every time.
Causion has also performed at many local festivals in South Florida including: Unifest, Reggae Meets Rocksteady, South Florida Music Festival, For One Night Only Tour, Tropical RumFest and he opened for Beres Hammond at the James L. Knight Center.

Some 25 years later, family, community and music are still Causion's biggest priorities, as he prepares for the launch of the Wadadli Music Festival in 2018, in his home town of Falmouth, after a 10-year hiatus. He will also officially launch his Foundation "Stella's Kids" a not-for-profit organization that will honor the legacy of his grandmother who was widely recognized as a matriarch and philanthropist in his community.
With a career that takes him around the globe and to new heights of achievement and accomplishment, Causion remains humble, grounded and firmly rooted in his principles. In his own words, “I continue to pray to the Father to keep my feet grounded and my head out of the clouds, regardless of where this journey takes me. To keep me physically, emotionally, spiritually and musically entwined.”
His charm, charisma and energetic performances continue to entertain fans the world over. It is with much anticipation that we wait to see what is next from Antigua’s Reggae Ambassador, Causion
