Tin Machine

It's hard to escape the conclusion that Tin Machine was basically just a brief diversion for David Bowie. After years of being a solo artist, Bowie took a stab at being just one of the members of a band. He teamed up with guitar wildman Reeves Gabrels (who also showed up on a number of Bowie's regular albums), Hunt Sales (drums) and Tony Sales (bass) for several albums (two studio and one live) of more rocking material than he had done in a long time. The band had a fair amount of success and toured medium-sized venues, a far cry from the stadiums Bowie frequented under his own name.
