About Farewell Gusto

Astoria based indie rockers Farewell Gusto believes in writing what they know, painting a sonic picture with slightly crunchy guitars, a thumpy bass line, and a steady drum beat. They draw on their indie, alternative, and punk rock roots to create a sound that has been compared to Sunny Day Real Estate, Brand New, Jimmy Eat World and Death Cab for Cutie.

The recently released “Interchanges”, a three-song EP that feature haunting shoe gazed leads, anthemic breakdowns, and a tinge of folksiness. Lyrically the songs cycle through a range of questions and laments. “Indiana” attempts to justify leaving what appears to be a good place while “Rotting on the Vine” conversely examines the consequences of working hard to stay in a futile relationship. Closing track “Tears Through the Window” takes us through the struggle and triumph of moving on from a painful past.

Formed in 2012, the band is currently comprised of Greg Lum, Brian Venisky, Daniel D’Agostino, Stephen Lovely and Sean Begley.
