Birdo

Birdo is a power trio from Santa Cruz, California. Our music is heavy, blending psychedelic doom, surf, and metal into our own take on rock and roll. "Interstellar Post-Surf Doom"? Our lyrics touch on alien invasion, sins of the flesh, apocalyptic love, and doomed cowboys.

Birdo is loud and often provides hearing protection at shows.

We started in late 2015 with Stephen Foster on guitar & Ben Carter on bass, co-writing songs and taking turns on vocals. Jon Auman joined on drums in early 2016 and we started rehearsing regularly at Santa Cruz Rehearsal Studios.

Birdo debuted live in 2017 at Bocci's Cellar, Santa Cruz, and we continue to play at iconic venues in our hometown, including The Blue Lagoon, The Poet & Patriot, Shanty Shack Brewing, Catalyst Atrium, and The Crepe Place. We've supported multiple benefit concerts and performed at the 2018 Santa Cruz Music Festival.

In July 2018, Birdo released a 5-song demo EP, recorded by Ian Thornburgh at Outlaw Fringe Sound in Santa Cruz. "Admittance" is the result, showing off some early material and the varying yet distinctive tone of Birdo. The EP is available on CD and digitally at Bandcamp, iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, etc.
