About Camille Christel
Eighteen year old Camille is a singer & songwriter from Nottingham, UK.
At 14 Camille co-wrote and performed with the BE musical collective whose album “ONE" featured in Rough Trade and The Guardian's 2016 Albums Of The Year. Camille & BE performed at multiple festivals and venues throughout 2016/7 including Glastonbury, End Of The Road, Blue Dot and Coventry Cathedral, as well as performing a live radio session for BBC 6 Music.
Camille's debut solo track ‘Copenhagen’ was released in the spring of 2018 and was immediately championed by Mary Anne Hobbs on her BBC 6 Music Recommends show. The track was also made Mary Anne’s Sunriser on her weekend breakfast shows. On hearing the song, BBC DJ Dean Jackson fast-tracked it to be played on BBC Introducing over the same weekend.
‘New York’ was released in the autumn of 2018 and coincided with Camille’s debut filmed session with BBC Introducing, alongside her 4-piece band John Thompson, Henry Claude, James Cahill and Deirdre Bencsik at Metronome in Nottingham.
“an exquisitely beautiful piece.” Mary Anne Hobbs, BBC 6 Music
“stunning…..it doesn’t get any better than this.” Dean Jackson. BBC Introducing
