About Steve Newsome
With the release of his 9th radio single, Simple Things, Steve has taken things to the next level. Written by the award winning Brothers Osborne and Grammy nominated Deric Ruttan, Steve is also marketing a beer by the same name, craft brewed by RavenWolf Brewing Company. Launched on July 3rd, 2021, both the song and the beer are doing well. Steve’s schedule is also starting to fill as the world comes out of the Covid 19 pandemic. The previously released Cold Beer Communion performed well, reaching #22 on the Tasmania and OZCMR Charts in Australia. The accompanying video has now garnered over 15 thousand views across all platforms and recently won International Video of the Year at the 2021 ISSA Awards in Atlanta, Georgia. The win is Steve’s third at the Indie dominated awards.
Following the release of One Good Radio and Take A Ride With Me in 2020, Steve received two nominations at the 10th Annual Country Music Alberta Awards, for Rising Star and Horizon Male Artist.
The release of Steve’s second EP was delayed due to the Covid-19 crisis. That EP will now be available at the end of February after an online, virtual release show. The EP includes the title track, Try Somethin’ Different, as well as the previously released Red Wine, I Ain’t Lookin’ For A Fight, and One Good Radio. Additionally, the disc includes the unreleased Lost On 22 and an acoustic version of Built From Ruin, both written by Steve.
After having opened for Brett Kissel, Emerson Drive, and Terri Clark, to name a few, Steve picked up his first ISSA Award in 2019 for Songwriter of the Year and his second in 2020 for Entertainer of the Year.
Debuting his first song to radio Tried, Tested and True in March of 2016, Steve followed with the title track of his first EP, Enjoy The Ride.
Steve is a proud born and raised Alberta, now based in Stony Plain. Though Covid has taken a toll on the music industry as a whole, like other artists, Steve has found time to write and complete projects around the house. Online shows are the norm now and Steve has done his share. He has taken over the Facebook pages of Country Music Alberta and Texas based radio station, Big Star 97. He also participated in a collaborative online event, Crossing Borders, with Virginia based country artist, Shawn Stone.
