About Ten in the Swear Jar

Ten in the Swear Jar (known by fans as TITSJ or XITSJ) was an indie/experimental band formed in 1999 after the breakup of Jamie Stewart's previous band, IBOPA. Stewart would go on to form Xiu Xiu. The band released two albums and had worked on a third unreleased work called Eat Death Orphans before breaking up a year later in July 2000. The band's roster included multi-instrumentalists Jamie Stewart, Cory McCulloch, Kurt Stumbaugh, Tim Kirby, and Don Dias. Xiu Xiu has acoustically reworked many of XITSJ's songs. XITSJ's experimental nature allowed Stewart the creative freedom to progress as a musician and form what would become Xiu Xiu. Jamie has noted in an interview that he felt the recordings were done hastily, but the band "rock[ed] the casbah live." All recordings by the band have been rereleased by Asian Man Records as Accordion Solo!.
