About Bstar

Bstar, born Bernard Mathis Jr., is a recording artist and creative that is reinventing the sound of Southern hip-hop music. The Lake County, Florida native aims to illustrate a vision through his lyricism and delivery of his art.
Bstar got his start in music as a child. He was a member of his school chorus and sang in the children’s choir at church in his hometown. His transition to rap music started in high school.
Networking with local buzzing musicians gave Bstar the opportunity to learn how to create music on a professional level. Bstar is motivated by Southern music legends like Master P and Lil Wayne, who taught him the power of perseverance, determination, and forward thinking. Bstar went on to perform at numerous shows and festivals in Central Florida and headlined the Central Florida Fair in Orlando at the age of 17.
Taking a chance on himself in late 2012, Mathis relocated to Los Angeles to pursue his dreams. He attended the Los Angeles film school in Hollywood, California to learn filmmaking, with the goal of shooting and directing his own music videos one day. Entering the new music scene with his debut single “Tweety” featuring Boosie BadAzz in 2020, Bstar aims to solidify his place in the music industry.
