BIOGRAPHY
“That sound...What’s that coming from…? then it hit me. I closed my eyes and became locked into this incredible sense of infinity, of timelessness,a swirling centrifuge of bliss".
In a time of fickle associations and genre bandwagon jumping the NAPT N-Funk sound has risen to the top, flying the flag for NAPT’s kaleidoscopic and unique breakbeat. From house supremo Miles Dyson, cool kids favourite Kissy Sell Out, UK grime ambassador DJ Cameo to breaks stalwarts the Plump DJ’s and Rennie Pilgrim the N-Funk sound continues to infiltrate many a DJ’s box.
After receiving snowballing praise for their singles on the burgeoning Funkatech brand and being nominated for Best Producer at Breakspoll 2008, NAPT’s “Gotta Have More Cowbell” (N-Funk Part 1), devastated the charts (number 1 on the beatport breaks chart for 5 weeks, juno, trackitdown, etc) and became the second highest selling breaks track of 2008, solidifying its status as one of the breaks anthems of the year. This culminated in a win for Best Track at Breakspoll 2009 and nomination for Best Breaks Track at the Beatport Music Awards 2009. Not content, NAPT went on to repeat and surpass this success later in the year with an out and out N-Funk remix of Slydes “Frequency” for Fingerlickin records, again dominating the charts and finishing up as the highest selling breaks track of 2008. This was once again rewarded with a win at Breakspoll 2009, this time for Best Remix, and win for Best Breaks Track at the Beatport Music Awards 2009. Later in 2008 NAPT unleashed their follow up to “Gotta Have More Cowbell” - N-Funk Part 2 and remixes of Calvertron (half of Twocker), Ils and Deekline & Wizard, all of which repeatedly topped sales charts and once again received widespread critical acclaim.
By the start of 2009 NAPT were riding high and in the face of stiff competition from breakbeat’s old guard, the Plump DJ's, Stanton Warriors, Evil Nine and Deekline and Wizard, NAPT scooped the highly esteemed Best Producer award at Breakspoll 2009. This along with NAPT’s win for Best Track at the Beatport Music Awards 2009 has marked a monumental shift in breakbeat and clarified NAPT’s status as leaders in the breakbeat scene.
As DJ’s NAPT’s in demand skills won them the Breakthrough DJ award at Breakspoll 2006. This along with their futuristic N-Funk and unique DJ sets has led to many international shows including tours of Australia, New Zealand, Europe and Asia and has seen them become residents for top label Supercharged's seminal night at Audio Brighton and guest on high profile radio shows including BBC Radio 1, Kiss FM, Galaxy FM and more.
Ignore the hype and listen, listen to the future sound of N-Funk.
