About The New Wild

With a tip of the hat to local Polaris-nominated duo, Cannon Bros., these biological brothers have adopted the former’s technique of alternating between roles on guitar and drums. Their debut self-titled EP demonstrates this practice distinctively: Daniel sings and plays guitar on the first and third tracks, while Sean does so on the second and fourth (joined by Daniel on harmonies in “No Cuts”). While the EP has a few definite moments of inspiration by more famous contemporary duos (The White Stripes, The Black Keys, Flat Duo Jets), The New Wild aims to continue being innovative and untamed – true to their name – in mixing garage, blues, alternative, punk, and indie rock. Freakish blues, as Jimi said. “In just four songs, brothers Daniel and Sean Guezen deliver more grit and dirt than a lot of bands do in a whole career.” - Nicholas Friesen (The Uniter) Two brothers making a rockish racket in Winnipeg with several guitars and their father's drum set.
