About Christina Taylor

Named an "artist to watch" by AXS, The Country Source, CMT and the UK’s Your Life In A Song, Christina Taylor has quickly become one of Nashville’s brightest newcomers. Her passionate live performances and deep repertoire of self-penned songs, including "Setting Myself On fire," “Don’t Look Good In Your T-Shirt Anymore,” “That Girl,” and “Loser” have put her at the forefront of shows such as The Country Network’s forthcoming series Dirt Road Divas and atop playlists, including Radio Disney Country where her music first gained traction in 2017.

Now she has a powerful new single — “As Good As You Look” — a duet with two-time Juno winner Brett Kissel, who joined Taylor in Nashville to create what both call a smooth, traditional country record.

Co-writing with Kelley Lovelace and Brent Anderson, Taylor tells the story of falling for someone from afar — and wondering what lies beneath the surface.

“There’s so much behind that song, yet we wrote it in one session,” Taylor said of working with superstar songwriters Lovelace and Anderson. “It’s so real, it all just came naturally.”

While Taylor’s intimate shows at The Listening Room, The Bluebird Cafe and The Analog at The Hutton are a staple on the Nashville scene, she’s also played huge venues opening for artists such as Pitbull and Tim McGraw at Twin Cities Summer Jam, while also appearing on bills with Keith Urban, Rascal Flats, LoCash, Scottie McCreery and many others.

She attributes her soulful sound to her early childhood in South Florida, where reggae and R&B music were prominent. When her family relocated to North Carolina she began drawing inspiration from an array of genres and artists, among them McGraw, Shania Twain, P!nk, Eric Church, Destiny’s Child and Miranda Lambert.

Soon after recording her first songs at 16, Taylor was planning her professional career. By 18 she was steeling herself for twice-monthly drives on her own from North Carolina to Nashville, where she’d bunk with friends while immersing herself in writing and recording sessions.

“It’s six hours each way,” she said of the road-trips, which she endured for two-and-a-half years, before becoming a full-time Nashville resident.

Her determination soon paid off in the form of a successful debut EP, That Girl, more than two million streams, and a new EP on the way which will include her recently released singles "Settin' Myself On Fire” and “Loser.”

“I grew up singing,” she says. “I was definitely the girl who stood in front of the security camera in every store. If there was a camera I found it. But it wasn’t just me staring at myself on the monitor. I knew I was a performer.”
