Ascendant

Soulful. Inspiring. Authentic. True. Just a few words that people use to describe them and their artistry, and yet ASCENDANT is…simply that…ascendant…rising above. From it’s start, ASCENDANT has been rising above…their fears, their obstacles and creating meaningful, soul-filled music in an era when such artistic statements just aren’t made but desperately needed. Take a listen to the soaring highnotes and heartfelt harmonies. It’s there in every soul-drenched note; every colorful chord progression; every uplifting rhythm. ASCENDANT rises… and asks us all to join them in flight…

With their latest album, Illuminate, (done in 4 parts: BLUE, GREEN, YELLOW, RED) ASCENDANT takes the listener even higher with instant classics like This Life, All You Need, Brand New Me, Finally (featuring Swaylo), Gotta Get Up, the Top 30 Digital Radio hit, It's Not Over (with Angela Johnson), Love Saved My Life and others.

“The group are steeped in traditions that stretch back to Stevie Wonder and Earth Wind & Fire — blending the spiritual and soulful with tight rhythms, jazzy keys and deep vocals that shift between male and female leads, always with some nice harmonies in the background… a very positive and progressive feel” – Dusty Groove America

“A passionate mixture of soul, funk, jazz with even some reggae influences present… all the songs have a pleasant live vibe…Ascendant are obviously on a lyrical mission with their thought provoking lyrics, something that’s really missing in most of today’s music – Jazz-Not-Jazz, The Netherlands

“A throwback to the days when bands that merged their funk with a healthy dose of jazz improvisation were commonplace… A free flowing blend of R&B, jazz and world-influenced music that is tied together by a keen sense of melody and musicianship… awe-inspiring in its breadth, both stylistically and in mood” – SoulTracks.com
